Hope (Spoken Word poem from Easter)

We cannot lose focus of Easter. We can fall into the trap of only viewing the resurrection as one Sunday out of the year, but the truth of the resurrection should move us to remember every day of our lives.

I wrote this poem for our Easter Sunday service and did a spoken word piece with it.

May it move you to reflect on the hope that continues to be found on Easter Sunday.

Hope

Hope is found today because Christ’s selfless act was given to redeem the SELFISH acts of creation.

Hope

Hope is given even when we yelled crucify and we decided He should die…for nothing.

Hope

Hope is given when He looked down from the cross we nailed His hands to and He declared forgive them, for they know not what they do.

Hope

Hope is found on this day, where life has been given through death. On a day where darkness tried to win, yet light shined brighter and conquered all of our sin.

Hope

Hope is found today because on His last breath we received breath.

Hope

Hope is found when He looked down and said it is finished, it was not to say death had won, but our life had just begun, because hope is found in the One…Jesus.

Hope

Hope is found today when we celebrate a stone that was rolled away to reveal freedom. We are no longer held in bondage, but we are free.

Freed from chains that held us captive and aimed to kill, but our Savior came and took them to a hill, to hang them there to show the goodness of the One who made us.

Hope

Hope is found at a tomb that was borrowed so we can know that our lives were bought, at a price, at a noble sacrifice of love to bring…

Hope

Hope to the hopeless, life to the lifeless, breath to the breathless. A restored creation reconciled to their Creator to join together for good.

Hope

Hope is found because the linens were left to show we will not be left alone.

Hope

Hope is found in the resurrection. To know that we are received by our Creator as His very good creation because death had no grip on His Son, the One who saw us, and came to give…

Hope

Hope that this life is not the end because His resurrection was the beginning.

Hope

Hope is found today in the eternal reward with our Creator who thought of us on this day because we could not repay our debt.

Hope

Hope is what we celebrate now because Hope was found on Easter Sunday.

QUESTION: How do you reflect on the hope found on Easter Sunday beyond a special service?
